Early Life and Character
Born during a period when traditional and patriarchal norms shaped much of Iranian society, Princess Ashraf grew into a woman of determination, intelligence, and directness. She was known for her sharp mind, courage, loyalty to her friends and aides, and her willingness to confront hardship without surrendering to failure.
Advancing the Rights of Iranian Women
A major part of Princess Ashraf’s public life was devoted to the advancement of Iranian women. As honorary president of the Women’s Organization of Iran, she supported educational, cultural, legal, and political initiatives that expanded women’s participation in national life.
These efforts helped Iranian women gain rights and freedoms that, by the late 1970s, stood among the most advanced in the region.
Humanitarian and Social Service
During her travels across Iran in the 1940s, Princess Ashraf witnessed poverty and deprivation. She helped establish the Imperial Organization for Social Services.
